Hooray!! Our new site and blog are up! Please update your bookmarks, your readers, and any other way you use to find us!

What’s new on the site? Well obviously there is a new fresh look that embodies the fresh approach we have to help you plan your wedding, but there are some other great features as well.

We have always had a Vendor Directory to help you find the best wedding professionals in Nashville but now the listings contain new ways for you to connect with those vendors you love. You can find their website, Facebook, Twitter, and blog links right on their listing!

Check out the nifty new Event and Workshops page where you can find out what’s going on at the studio and around town at a glance. You can also import our events into your iCal calendar. Just click the iCal import, save the file, and import the file into your iCal account.

Take a look around then let us know what you think! We love the new site and hope you love it as well!

Good Morning.  I just reread an article by Donna O’Neil written in the Williamson Herald (http://www.williamsonherald.com/business?id=66156 )  this past week about Wedding 101.  O.K., it  really was my third, fourth, maybe fifth time to read the article.  It’s just too exciting!  🙂 What is more exciting is the fact that people still read newspapers.  We have had several people find us as a result of the story, as well as the result of a press release regarding our opening in the Review Appeal.  The point of all this is not so much to toot our horn but to remind wedding vendors of the value of a so-called dying advertising medium.  People in your community respect the point of view of local papers and their writers.  They look forward to knowing what is going on around them if just to gossip!  AND gossip is what drives word of mouth advertising — another free means of publicity.  So, paid advertising is a pivotal and valuable means of marketing, but along the way, why not share more with a story about an event or new angle in your business.  It is definitely worth pursuing.

One of the trends in wedding dresses that I love is the sash OR SPLASH of color added to the traditional white wedding gown.  It might not seem traditional, but after lots of research on the history of the wedding dress, I found out that the white wedding dress was unheard of until Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in 1840.  Before then, brides chose colors to represent the joy of the occassion.  Yet, it was a bold fashion statement  that became the tradition.  I still remember falling in love with a champagne pink dress, but respect for tradition had me choose the white (albeit gorgeous) dress instead.  I painted my nails pink!:)

The sash is a great compromise or addition to your wedding dress.  When we were at the AtlantaMart this past year, Amy and I found some amazing ribbon seen here that would add that sweet splash of color to any dress. P1000083We carry several of their gorgeous ribbons at Wedding 101 but can order from AMPELCO Ribbon Co. any of their ribbon just in time for your wedding dress, your bridesmaids’ dresses, or even for the flower girl’s gown.  As well, you might want to add another elegant flair by attaching a brooche to the knot of your sash.

The sash does not have to be your something blue but maybe that perfect shade of your favorite color.
